register
Financial Intermediaries can register to use Webline
by completing a simple online registration
form. Once this form is submitted, Webline
will send you a registration document containing your unique Webline
number, plus our terms
and conditions of trading, within one business day. As soon
as you receive this documentation you can start quoting!
managing your webline account
By logging into Webline (using your
account's administrator user name) you can maintain many Webline
options. This list identifies some of the functionality and information
you can configure in Webline:
- Enter the agency codes you have been supplied by each Provider.
Webline uses this information to
help the Providers identify you as a quote requester, and therefore
ensures the correct commission details are presented in your quotes.
(Note: not all Providers can support agency codes. Some verify
post codes, so ensure yours is correctly shown in your Webline
details. For IFAs, many Providers will check their FSA reference number (FRN)).
- Determine if you wish to sacrifice commission on quotes - set
this up using the "Commission" option, product by product.
This can be set to cover all quotes, or on a quote-by-quote basis
(so you can easily give a higher sacrifice on a big case, for
instance).
- You can set-up your panel of Providers for each product type
you wish to quote.
- Specify compliance text to be displayed to consumers on the
B2B2C quote form (see below).
- Specify if you wish to show a Campaign Reference input box,
a post code input box or a Telephone Number input box on the B2B2C
quote form. These can help you measure the effectiveness of marketing
campaigns, and let you actively follow up enquiries from your
website.
- Configure Webline's Auto e-mail
options for B2B2C quotes - these can be set to send you an e-mail
every time a consumer performs a quote request and/or a personal
illustration request and/or a proposal download from your website.
- Enter a Business Reply Address (which can be different to your
address registered with Webline) to ensure that consumers send
their completed application forms to the correct address for processing.
A comprehensive user guide is available once you have registered
with Webline - log on, click on the "Info" button, then
select "Webline Info", and then click on the "User
Guide" link.
business to business (B2B) quotes
For everyday quotes, when working with clients, simply connect
to the Internet with your Web browser, go to the Webline
home page (www.webline.co.uk), then enter your Webline
Number, User Name and Password to log on to the system.
You can then select the product you wish to quote, enter the client
details, and request a comparison (or a single Provider quote -
e.g., for an investment bond). In a few seconds, the results are
displayed, and may be printed if required. These results are also
stored in the Webline database for
your future reference.
A few more personal details of the applicant(s) are then required
in order to obtain a full personalised illustration for the client(s).
Key features documents and proposal forms are also available online
for convenience (with applications being automatically stamped with
your agency details).
If you wish to sacrifice a percentage of your commission, you may
do so in your Webline profile. This
can be for every quote, or just for a specific quote.
business to business to consumer (B2B2C) quotes
Webline is easy to link into your own website, if you wish, to
offer quotes to consumers. Your Web developer inserts the simple
links (detailed in your registration document) into your website
- one link for each product type (term, income protection, pensions,
etc.). The "look and feel" of the Webline pages within
your site can be quickly tailored to fit your company's own image
using "style sheets". We can also add your website to
the free Webline directory - browsed by thousands of consumers -
to increase the chances of someone using your site.
Your current clients, and consumers in general, may now connect
to your website through the Internet and obtain quotes from Webline.
(Note - the Webline system "knows" which website is using
the quotation service, to ensure all your clients' quotes are logged
in your Webline Account).
The end user enters their details, obtains their quotes, and selects
the best option for them. "Notes" may sometimes be provided
by the insurers to explain certain options, for example. The service
provides key features documents, personalised illustrations, and
proposal forms, all from one convenient point.
A consumer completes the proposal, and posts it to the intermediary.
(Note: these forms are stamped with your agency details to ensure
you get your commission, even if the form is mailed directly to
the insurer by mistake).
electronic submission of new business
Webline provides two methods of submitting new business to Providers - known as "extranet" and "PAC"
(“Product Application Component” – an ORIGO standard) submissions.
Intermediaries are able to complete an online PAC application form (where supported by Providers) during the normal quotation process.
Once the personal illustration has been generated you can elect to complete the application online. The quote details already captured by
Webline will be automatically placed into the application form for you. You then continue to complete the missing sections. The forms are
error-checked to a large extent - to ensure that mandatory fields have been completed, for instance.
You may save part-completed applications and finish them at a later date. On submitting the application to Webline, a "PDF" (document)
of the final application is generated - you may download this to save it and/or print it, or you can refer to it later via Webline.
At the same time, your application form is forwarded to the Provider, who will acknowledge its safe receipt in their system. Some Providers
are offering enhanced commissions for business that is submitted this way.
The second method of submitting new business is via the Providers’ extranets (where supported by Providers). This enables an intermediary
to pre-populate quote data in to a Provider’s standard extranet submission system. The application process then follows the normal extranet processing
route.
Once sent, you may track your submission via Webline as usual. Again, some Providers offer enhanced terms for these electronic
submissions.
business tracking
You can log on to Webline at any time,
24 hours a day, to view your own quotes (B2B), as well as all quotes
requested via your website (B2B2C). If clients have entered their
contact details at the time of requesting the quote you can, if
you wish, contact them to follow-up their potential business, of
course. You can also track the progress of specific quote requests,
through their "life cycle" until they go on-risk.
By logging on and reviewing any previous quote / illustration,
you can check the commission values attributed to each piece of
business on Webline. You will receive
your commission from the insurer in the normal manner.
